You have just created your first VPS (virtual private server).
Now you need to connect to your server.
In this guide, I show you how to connect to your VPS using MobaXTerm.
MobaXTerm is an SSL client software. It is the easiest way to control your VPS.
First, you download the latest version. You can choose a portable edition or installer edition.
Once MobaXTerm is ready on my computer. You can open it.
Now click Sessions Menu. Select New Session.
A popup appears. You click SSH tab. Click person icon to enter your connection information.
On next screen, you click New tab.
You enter the following information:
Name: enter meaningful name description that helps you easily manage many credentials afterward.
Username/password: you can get this information from VPS provider after you create a VPS.
Click OK to save your information.
At Remote Host, you enter your IP of VPS. Select Specify username option. Then select a credential you have just created above.
Note: Default SSH port is 22. If you change SSH port, you need to adjust Port to your SSH port.
You are returned to the main interface. You will see a new user session. Click this session. MobaXTerm will connect to your VPS using the information you provide.
You see the panel on left hand. You click sftp tab.
Here you can view, create, edit or delete files using GUI. Even you can upload the file to VPS with sftp.
MobaXTerm provides an editor named MobaEditor. You can edit the file directly. It isn’t necessary to download the file, edit it locally, then upload the file to VPS.
That’s all. You already know a useful ssh client tool to connect to your VPS.
